Transferring Between Airports Guide
Connections at another airport
Some trips may include arriving at one New York or New Jersey airport and departing from another. For example, you might fly into Newark (EWR) from Greece and then fly out of LaGuardia (LGA) on another flight.
If this applies to you:
- Be sure to check your itinerary carefully when booking.
- Allow yourself plenty of time to travel between airports — especially during rush hour or holidays.
You will need to:
- Collect your checked bags at your arrival airport.
- Travel to the next airport (by public transit, taxi, or with a rideshare).
- Check-in and check your bags with your departing airline.
- Check your bags again with your departing airline.
- Go through TSA security again.
